Multimedia Development Laboratory

About the Lab

The Multimedia Development Lab is located in Moore Hall, room 2030. Access is limited to GSE&IS faculty or students working on specific projects requiring use of these machines. (Faculty authorization is a prerequisite for students). You may sign-up for a multimedia lab account if you meet these requirements.

These computers are for high-end multimedia applications such as graphic and video editing and website creation. If you need to do basic word processing, email or web browsing, please use a computer in one of the General Use Labs: Moore 3120 or GSE&IS 118.

The computers feature:

450 MHz G4 dual processor
320 MB RAM
30 GB hard drive
100 MB Zip drive
Firewire (IEEE 1394) ports

Sony digital/analog converter
VCR

Adobe Photoshop
Adobe GoLive
Final Cut Pro
iMovie 2.0

Storing files on the computers:

Because these computers are shared by many people, personal files left on these hard drives are not secure. It is extremely important to back up your data, either on removable media (Zip or floppy disk) or on a network drive. This includes Final Cut Pro edit files and raw digital video files capture.

IMPORTANT:

If you leave personal files on these computers, it is very likely they will be deleted by another user.
