Applications

Applications are located on the hard drive in the Applications folder. You can access the Applications Folder by the following methods:

1. Select Applications from the Go menu
or press Shift-Command-A

2. Click the "Home" icon
from any Desktop window

Some of the Applications installed on this computer include:

address icon Mac OS X's new system-wide address book. If you use Mail to read your email, you can store names, email addresses, etc. here.
acrobat reader icon Used to read portable document format (.pdf) files.
appleworks icon Appleworks has many uses. You can do word processing, spreadsheets, databases, drawing, painting and presentations.
calculator icon Calculator is a full-featured scientific calculator.
entourage icon Microsoft Entourage, part of Microsoft Office, is an email client. It's compatible with POP & IMAP, has a calendar, to do list and address book.
excel icon Microsoft Excel, part of Microsoft Office, is a powerful spreadsheet program.
explorer icon Internet Explorer is one of the most popular web browsers on the market.
fetch icon Fetch is used to connect to an FTP (file transfer protocol) server to transfer files.
filemaker icon FileMaker Pro is a powerful database application.
mail icon Mail is an email program which comes with all Mac OS X computers. It has a nice, simple interface and is compatible with POP & IMAP accounts.
omniweb Omniweb is lesser-known web browser which is fast and a nice alternative to the
powerpoint icon Microsoft PowerPoint, part of Microsoft Office, is presentation software. It will also do hand-outs and transparencies.
preview icon Preview is OS X application capable of reading most images: .jpg, .gif, .pdf, .tif, etc.
sherlock icon Sherlock is an internet searching application. You can search Airline info, Movie info, Yellow Pages, Stocks, eBay and more.
word icon Microsoft Word, part of Microsoft Office, is a powerful word processing application. Its files are compatible across platforms -- Windows and Mac OS.
