About the GSE&IS Computer Labs

Use of the computer labs in GSE&IS is limited to those people who have obtained a lab account. Accounts are free to full-time GSE&IS students. Students outside GSE&IS taking one or more GSE&IS courses may obtain an account for the quarter of the course(s). Special cases may require purchasing an account for $50.00 per quarter.

Please note that the Department of Information Studies charges its students a separate fee for the use of its departmental lab in 102 GSE&IS. This fee is not required to use the GSE&IS labs in 3027 Moore and 118 GSE&IS. Contact the IS lab staff for more information about this fee.

The ETU-maintained labs in 3120 Moore and 118 GSE&IS provide laser printing, mainframe connectivity and Internet access.

Most of the users of the labs are students. Funded research projects can buy "project accounts" that can be used by all undergraduate and graduate students on that project, one person per account at a time. Faculty with non GSE&IS students working on unfunded research (e.g., Psych 194 students) will need to make special arrangements with ETU. Accounts will be provided for GSE&IS TAs.

Faculty members and staff can get special accounts.

Lab availability is subject to prior reservation. Check the calendar using the link to the left for a current list of reservations.

If you need to contact the (External) Educational Technology Unit (ETU) , you can do so by visiting Moore Hall Room 3027 or GSE&IS Room 213 , calling 825-1911 or by sending an e-mail to etu@gseis.ucla.edu
